Dear Loyal Customers,
HawaiiCarRentals.net is shutting down for good. But there's still a way to book a car for all of 2023 by using one of our discount codes – see below.
It is with great regret that the www.HawaiiCarRentals.net website must close. I had hoped to keep the website going, but for reasons beyond our control, it is no longer possible - more details below. I’ve now decided to finally retire as well, so there’s also that.
Despite everything I’ve listed below, it sure has been a great pleasure to assist and work with all of you for the past 20 years. Interacting with my customers has been the easiest, most trouble-free, interesting, and fun part of this business. So thanks a lot for that. I’m sorry the website has come to an end.
OUR CORPORATE DISCOUNT CODES: (Continue to get our discount rates)
These codes should all be good for any future booking you make until the end of 2023 and possibly beyond. Please go to each brand's website and enter the respective discount code listed below.
REASONS for SHUT DOWN:
- Our website booking system is no longer working – continue reading for more details.
- Our original hosting company has been bought out twice and now turns out to be one of the worst. As a result, the website has either been offline since the beginning of December or bookings have mostly not been possible. My IT developers, which have always been a great team to work with, just fixed the most recent host-caused problem for the umpteenth time, costing thousands, and now, just a week later, there is the same or another host-caused problem. To move our complex website to a new hosting company would cost thousands more.
- Speaking of thousands of dollars, last year we did a major upgrade to the website to not only comply with Google, but among other things, to also give the website more updated and secure coding as well as to sync more efficiently with the various rental car companies we represent. We also moved the hosting to a more updated and secure server (with the same host). However, since doing so, it’s been one problem after another with the changes our hosting company keeps making (with no notification to us), along with little, to no, to even incomplete, to totally wrong, to incompetent help from them. Last year’s upgrade investment is now all down the drain. Yikes!
- Google keeps changing their algorithms and it is very expensive to try to keep up or justify given the income the website could likely produce in the future, not to mention the cost of the items listed above and below.
- Adding to the list of difficult to almost impossible things to deal with has been the various rental car brands (since day one) – my complaint list is too long to even mention.
- Even if everything were to be fixed, the website would need to be promoted again and at a very substantial cost. Even so, there’s no promise from Google if or when they would restore our previous ranking positions, which may take several months or longer, if ever. It could take years to break even on past investments not to mention required current and future investment costs.
- Everything considered, I’m not willing to invest untold thousands more dollars to keep the HCR website operating. Especially because, hey, I’m now 75 years old now, and it’s past time to retire and go do something else. I’ve been operating and maintaining the HCR website for the past 20 years along with several other travel related websites.
I hope you’ll have the best time ever on your future trips to Hawaii.
Best Regards,
Steve Parquet, owner
