The city of Lihue, on the island’s Southeast Coast is the seat of Kauai County and has two 18-hole golf courses. Kapa’a (or Kapaa), located on the Coconut Coast is the home of many sacred sites and Hawaiian cultural attractions and is sprinkled with fine restaurants and distinctive shops. The elegant and pristine Wailua Falls is a short drive inland and the object of many dreams. Waimea Town is located at the mouth of the Waimea River, whose flow formed one of the most scenic wonders that one could behold. The Waimea Canyon is called the ‘Grand Canyon of the Pacific’. Kauai has attracted over 70 Hollywood Film makers and its natural splendor has been captured on celluloid for the viewing pleasure of the entire world. Millions of tourists who throng here every year seek out the Alakai Wilderness Area, Allerton Gardens, the Fern Grotto, the Iraivian Temple and of course the Beaches. Kauai has more miles of sandy beaches than all the neighbor islands combined.
