Hello Hawaii Travelers,

Due to the economic slowdown, to cut costs, some of the Hawaii car rental companies like Avis, Budget, Dollar, Thrifty and Enterprise have reduced their inventories. This has resulted in vehicle shortages. When there’s a severe shortage, to further reduce their costs, they’ve been implementing Black out Dates. This means no discounts or waivers.

Blackouts is the elimination of special reduced rates and waivers from authorized discount car rental vendor web sites. If a portion of your car rental in Hawaii falls within a blackout period, you will not be able to take advantage of such things as:

  • Discount rates
  • No surcharge for second driver
  • No surcharge for spouse as second driver
  • No surcharge for drivers age 21-24
To assure the best rate, reserve your car well in advance or visit our schedule of “Hawaii Blackout Dates” to see How to save money during Blackout Dates.
