What is
a QR Code?
If you haven't seen these codes before, you will. They are called QR Codes, as
in Quick Response. It is a type of matrix barcode that can be scanned with your
smart phone to instantly give you more information. You no longer have to wait
to get home to look it up on your computer. The QR Code system is popular due to its fast readability and comparatively large information storage capacity.
Where are QR Codes used?
People with smart phones
(iPhone, Android, Blackberry, etc.) are able to scan Quick Response Codes with their phone.
Various information appears on their screen or it takes them directly to a
website and more. QR Codes can be seen on products, business cards,
websites, the sides of trucks, t-shirts, in print
advertising, as a PayPal Buy Now link, on inventory and more. They are even used
to rack up loyalty points when you purchase a product. In E-Ticket applications,
when you purchase a concert or airline ticket online, a QR Code can be sent to
your cell phone and then scanned at the gate when you arrive, thus eliminating
the need for a hard copy ticket. You will even see them on fruit and vegetables
to let you know when and where it was grown. Scanning a QR Code can even launch
a map or even a video about the product you're scanning. The usages are
seemingly endless. Hawaii Car Rentals has implemented a variety of QR Codes.
