Cancellation Policy
No charge for cancellation of your booking is our policy. You simply have to visit the car rental company website and make changes on the reservations page. Any
modifications to your reservation may increase or decrease the
cost of your rental.
Minimum Age and Credit Identification
The minimum age to be able to rent or drive a rental in Hawaii is 21 years. The person must also have a credit card. Please note that there is a surcharge for renters who are between the age of 21 and 24. Certain
companies like Enterprise also allow people aged between 18 and 21 to rent a car if they are traveling on military orders and can prove the same.
Fees and Other Charges
For drivers aged between 21 and 24 years, most companies impose an additional charge of $10 to $27 per day. On the rates page, in order to compare "apples and apples," all prices are quoted at the base rate. From there other taxes, fees and add-ons are added, such as the mandatory Hawaii fees, add-on charges for child seats or extra insurance or gas filled up by the agency and any other applicable taxes and fees.
Driving License Requirements
It is our policy as well as the national brand companies policy that to rent an
automobile in Hawaii, one must have a driving license from the United States or most other foreign countries. However, some
auto hire companies also ask for an international driver’s permit along with all non-English foreign licenses. A driver’s license from the person’s country of origin is required.
Additional Drivers
An additional driver can drive the vehicle, but some restrictions apply.
His or her age should be at least 21 years and the additional surcharges will be applicable for drivers aged 21 to 24 years. However, the company may also offer special discounts and waivers on additional drivers and offer grace periods, among others.
Insurance
Insurance is provided at an extra charge. It is not mandatory for the renter to use the insurance offered by the
renting agency. When using your own insurance policy, keep the name of the insurance company and the policy number with you.
Types of Vehicles Available
Generally, all vehicles offered for rent are new. No guarantees are made on the make or model
reserved for a customer.
Driving Off-Road
None of the rented vehicles can be driven off the road.
