When it comes to your options and accessories on your car rental, you should consider several factors. Making sure you have everything you need is important to guarantee your rental provides the best, most relaxing, safe and fun experience possible. At Hawaii Car Rentals we offer a variety of Options and Accessories for your rental car. Whether it's an economy car or a decked out luxury car, we can provide you with options and accessories information for your driving pleasure on all islands.

Optional Accessories you pay for

Child Safety Seats: (Optional)

Child safety and booster car seats are required for children seven and younger. Families are obligated by law to use these car seats in their vehicles for both safety and legal reasons. Bring your own or reserve one with your Hawaii car rental. Hawaii law requires children under the age of four to ride in a child safety seat. 

Hawaii law requires children ages four through seven to ride in a child safety seat or a booster seat when traveling in a motor vehicle. The driver will be held responsible for compliance with the law. Violators of the law are required to attend a 4-hour class and may be assessed a fine of $100-$500 depending upon the number of offenses.  

When children outgrow child restraints with a harness, between 40 and 65 lbs. depending on seat weight limit, they should be restrained in a booster seat until they are big enough to fit in an adult seat belt (approximately 80 lbs. and 4’9’’ tall). More details on Child Passenger Safety.

GPS Navigation: (Optional)

If you’re renting a car in Hawaii and don’t know the area then you’ll definitely want to consider all GPS navigation options. There are daily and weekly GPS rates. Most locations provide GPS devices as an option. GPS is a must have option in unfamiliar territory. You'll be glad you sprung for the added expense, especially if you get lost and don't know where you're going, or need to get somewhere fast and don't want to take the time to look at a map, not to mention even trying to find a map to purchase.

Roof Racks: (Optional)
There are many outdoor adventures to be had and making sure you have all the essentials is important. One essential piece of equipment for such oversized items such as such as surfboards and kayaks, is a roof rack. Please note that some vehicles have the roof rail part of a roof rack, but not the necessary crossbars. SiriusXM Satellite Radio, USB Ports for Media Devices: Available to rent at some locations: (Optional)
Other staples to have are SiriusXM Satellite Radio and USB Ports for Media Devices. Technology is part of our daily lives and making sure you have a variety of radio stations available and a place to plug in all your media devices can make your renting experience that much better. Avis and Budget offers SiriusXM Satellite Radio at select locations. SiriusXM Satellite Radio is not available in Hawaii from Dollar, Thrifty and Enterprise. Some car models from all companies have built in USB Ports for Media Devices.

Smoke Free Fleet: (All Cars)

While some might not mind, many people require a smoke-free car for renting. Smoke-free car rentals are the only types you can rent from the companies we represent. Those who violate the smoke free agreement will have to pay a hefty fine at the end of the rental period to fully detail the car to rid it of smoke odor and return it to being a fresh-smelling vehicle.

Air Conditioning: (All cars)

All cars, trucks and vans are equipped with air conditioning.

Automatic Transmission: (All cars)

All vehicles - cars, trucks and vans come equipped with automatic transmissions, even the 4 wheel drive Wranglers and SUV's. No rental cars have shift or what is referred to as standard transmissions.

The cars that usually have them are the Ford Focus (Compact car), Ford Edge (5 passenger SUV) and Mercury Milan (Full size sedan). Due to limited availability, these vehicles cannot be specifically reserved. Please request one when you pick up your rental. All other cars need a separate adapter which may be purchased from an outside store. The adapter is plugged into the cigarette lighter or power port of any vehicle. This adapter has a USB input port that devices such as an iPhone cord can plug into.
No-Smoking Vehicles	All vehicle in the Avis Car Rental Fleet are smoke-free. While smoking is not permitted in any of Avis' Hawaii car fleet, renters sometimes violate this rule without our knowledge. Avis tries harder to provide you with a fresh-smelling vehicle.

All other cars need a separate adapter which may be purchased from an outside store. The adapter is plugged into the cigarette lighter or power port of any vehicle. This adapter has a USB input port that devices such as an iPhone cord can plug into.
No-Smoking Vehicles	All vehicles in the Dollar Car Rental Fleet in Hawaii are smoke free. Smoking is not permitted in any rental vehicles. Renters who return a vehicle that has been smoked in may face up to a $250 charge. This charge is necessary to offset special cleaning costs to remove all remnants of tobacco residue and smoky odor. Hawaii rental cars that have been smoked in will be removed from the fleet for a detailed cleaning before being returned to operation in the Hawaii rental car fleet. All vehicles now display a “No Smoking” sticker notifying renters of the potential charge for noncompliance.

All other cars need a separate adapter which may be purchased from an outside store. The adapter is plugged into the cigarette lighter or power port of any rental car. This adapter has a USB input port that devices such as an iPhone cord can plug into.
No-Smoking Vehicles	The entire US Thrifty Car Rental Fleet is smoke free. Smoking is not allowed in any of the vehicles. Renters who return a vehicle that has been smoked in may face up to a $250 charge. It covers special cleaning to remove all traces of tobacco residue and smoky odor. Vehicles that have been smoked in will be grounded and removed for a detailed cleaning before being returned to the Hawaii rental car fleet. All vehicle now display a “No Smoking” sticker notifying renters of the potential charge for noncompliance.

All other cars need a separate adapter which may be purchased from an outside store. In other words, bring a USB adapter with you. The adapter is plugged into the cigarette lighter or power port of any rental car. This adapter has a USB input port that devices such as a Blackberry or an iPhone cord can plug into.
No-Smoking Vehicles	The Enterprise Hawaii Car Rental Fleet is smoke free. Smoking is not allowed in any of the vehicles. A cleaning fee will be assessed if a vehicle is returned in a condition where it needs to be cleaned and deodorized due to smoking. No smoking in any vehicle.

Some items are available when you reserve, others only available at the counter when you pick up your car.  Subject to tax in certain locations. This tax is not reflected in the Estimated Total and will be calculated at the time of rental.  Rates may change without notice.
