Are there any other Hawaii rental car discount tips you can suggest?

Yes. When you rent a car, if available on the island you're going to, choose a Non-Airport location and save $15+/week or $50+/month. This is because at NON-airport locations, car rentals are NOT assessed an additional 11.11% " concession recovery fee" that is usually charged at car rental airport locations. Put in HAWAII, or OAHU, or MAUI as your location and see if there is a location near where you want to pick up your car. Enterprise has the most non-airport locations. Thrifty Honolulu Airport, since the car rental lot is "off site," no concession recovery fee is charged. Please note you will may need to take a taxi to some of these locations (Thrifty does have a free shuttle at the Honolulu Airport).
