| Avis Hawaii Rent A Car General Information

IMPORTANT NEWS:
When a customer extends a
rental it often has an impact on an existing reservation for another
client.
LATE FEE
$10.00 per day will be
charged to renters when returning their car if the actual check in
date/time is greater than seven hours of the expected check in date/time.
For Example:
The customer was due to
return the vehicle at 9am on March 1, but returns it at 5pm on March
1, the late return fee of $10 will apply.
The late return fee will
apply for every 24 hours that renter is late. For example, the renter
agreed to return the car by March 1 at 9am, but returns it on March 3
at 5pm. A late return fee of $20 will be charged. (the first $10
assessed after the seven hour grace period and the second $10 for each
additional 24 hour time frame.
After three days have
lapsed, the Loss Prevention Group works the overdue report and will
add $50 recovery charge, in addition to the Late Fee of $10 per day.
The late fee stops accruing when the $50 recovery fee is added.
RENTAL EXTENSION FEE
A rental extension fee of $10 per
extension will apply if the new expected date and time is greater than
seven hours from the previous agreed return date and time.
The rental extension fee
and late fee are taxable.
Molokai: Avis Rent A Car
Effective June 1, 2009, Avis Rent A Car
will no longer be on Molokai.

Age Requirements
At participating locations, Avis recently lowered the rental minimum age
to 21 years old in all states except:
-
Locations in the states of Connecticut,
Washington DC, Iowa and Idaho, and select locations in New Jersey.
Rather than requiring customers to be 25 to
rent, Avis now rents to customers between the ages of 21-24 with a valid
credit card and driver's license. At time of rental, we will automatically
apply an additional $27-per-day surcharge for these drivers.
New York State will continue to have a minimum age of 18 with a $110
surcharge per day for renters age 18-24.
Additionally, the following restrictions also will apply for renters
between the ages of 21-24: Renters of luxury, Mini-Vans, 12-Passenger
Vans, Specialty, and Full-Size SUVs, Premium SUVs will not be permitted.
For International rentals, maximum and minimum age policies may apply and
vary by country.
Credit and Debit Card Policies
Avis accepts most major credit cards as credit identification at the time
of rental. American Express, AT&T Capital, Avis, BP MultiCard, Diner's Club International, Diner's Club (US issued with MasterCard logo), Discover, GE Capital, JCB, MasterCard, PHH, Sears, Visa.
Some locations may not accept each of the referenced charge cards.
Most locations also accept bank debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard
logo as credit identification at the time of rental if you are at least 25
years of age.
If you're using a debit card to check out a vehicle at a location that
accepts them, you must show a second form of identification. You are
subject to additional credit checks, OR the instructions described below
will be required.
Renting at an Airport location:
-
A round trip airline ticket, e-ticket,
or travel itinerary to or from the airport of rental, disclosing a
return date and showing the renter’s name
-
A valid U.S. passport or current U.S.
military identification card. The name must match the name on the
renter’s U.S. issued driver’s license
-
A current vehicle insurance card or a
recent pay stub. The name and address must match the name and address
on the renter’s driver license;
-
OR a current copy (within the
last 60 days) of your cellular phone bill, home telephone bill, bank
statement or utility bill which shows your name and current address.
Your name and address must match the U.S. issued driver’s license in
order to provide the renting location with proof of an accurate
address.
Renting at an Off-Airport location:
-
A current copy (within the last 60 days)
of your cellular phone bill, home telephone bill, bank statement or
utility bill which shows your name and current address. Your name and
address must match your U.S issued driver’s license in order to
provide the renting location with proof of an accurate address
-
OR a valid U.S. passport or
current U.S. military identification card. Your name must match the
name on your U.S. issued driver's license.
Please note that some locations do not accept
Debit cards. Currently, debit cards are not acceptable as credit
identification at the time of rental at locations in the Metropolitan NY
Tri-State area, Hartford, CT, Philadelphia area, Mississippi or Louisiana
locations as well as other locations across the country.
Debit Card Policies
Avis reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to seek a Debit Card
authorization hold in excess of the estimated rental charges. When using a
debit card at Avis there may be a minimum hold of $500 and a maximum hold
of the estimated rental charges will be placed on your account.
Upon returning the vehicle, Avis will process a release of the unused
portion of the hold subject to your Bank's procedures. The hold may take
up to 2 weeks to be released by your bank.
If you fail to return the vehicle as agreed, Avis will obtain additional
authorizations from your account to cover the rental charges.
Avis is not responsible for any returned checks or over-drafts based on
this policy.
Positive identification in addition to your driver's license may be
required.
In the United States, Debit, Cash or Check cards can be used at the end
for payment of rental charges. For acceptable credit identification and
payment methods in countries outside of the United States, please consult
the Renter's Guide and search for the specific location.
Note: Prepaid Debit/Gift cards are not acceptable methods of credit
identification to pick up a car at any location. One of the above
mentioned cards must be presented. Prepaid Debit/Gift cards are accepted
at time of return only.
Optional Coverage’s
Optional Coverages may not be reflected in subtotal for certain
international bookings.
Optional coverages and one way fees are subject to tax in certain
locations. This tax is not reflected in the estimated total.
In Australia, GST, Stamp Duty and Concession Recovery fees apply to
optional coverages, one-way fees and any other miscellaneous charges.
These taxes and charges are not reflected in this quote. For rentals in
Australia, please make arrangements for optional coverages at the counter
at the time of rental. Please note: Selection of any of the above
coverages will result in the coverage and applicable GST, Stamp Duty and
Concession Recovery Fee being added to your rental, and not shown in the
total of this reservation quote. Concession Recovery Fee is charged at
most Major Airport locations only.
For rentals in Europe:
CDW - this covers you for damage to the Avis vehicle subject to an excess.
TP - this covers you for theft of the vehicle or its parts to an excess.
If you required additional insurance, cover can be purchased locally to
reduce/remove the insurance excess. Just ask at the Avis rental desk when
you collect your car.
Estimated Totals
Approximate total includes base rate, taxes, and surcharges. Items such as
coupon discounts, child safety seats and gas are NOT included in the
estimated total. Optional coverages and one-way fees are subject to tax in
certain locations. This tax is not reflected in the Estimated Total.
Estimated total is subject to change based upon exchange rates at the time
of rental.
DMV Checks
At the time of rental, the renter or authorized driver may be subject to
an electronic DMV check from the issuing state of the driver's license, or
may be asked to sign a declaration attesting to specific criteria:

The renter/authorized driver has a valid
license that is not currently suspended, expired, revoked, canceled or
surrendered.

The renter/authorized driver has not,
within the last 36 months had 1 or more convictions for reckless
driving.
-
The renter/authorized driver has not,
within the last 48 months had 1 or more convictions for driving under
the influence (DUI), driving while intoxicated (DWI), or driving while
alcohol impaired (DWAI).
-
The renter/authorized driver has not,
within the last 36 months failed to report or leave the scene of an
accident.
-
The renter/authorized driver has never
been in possession of a stolen vehicle or used a vehicle in a crime.
-
The renter/authorized driver has not,
within the last 24 months had 3 or more convictions for moving
violations (including seat belt violations).
-
The renter/authorized driver has not,
within the last 36 months had 3 or more accidents

A. 21 years of age with an Avis or Avis-Honored credit card. Renters 21-24 without a qualifying Corporate AWD number will be charged an underage fee of $27.00 per day.
25 years of age when presenting a Debit card with a MC or Visa logo.
B. 18-21 years of age with select Avis Corporate AWD number. No underage fee.
C. 21 years of age with an Avis or Avis-Honored Prepaid Tour Voucher or Tour Rate package. An Avis-Honored credit card, debit card or cash deposit required. Minimum cash payment of $100.00 or the amount of the estimated additional charges, whichever is greater. Underage fee of $27.00 per day for renters 21-24 may apply.

Loss Damage Waiver relieves the renter of financial responsibility for theft or damage to the Avis
vehicle regardless of who is at fault. Renters must comply with the terms of the rental agreement.
PARTIAL DAMAGE WAIVER (PDW): All Car Groups ($11.99/DAY)
Partial Damage Waiver relieves the renter of the first $3,000 of loss or damage to the Avis vehicle.
ADDITIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE (ALI): ($16.84/DAY)
Additional liability coverage will provide primary liability protection to $ 2 Million Dollars.
PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE (PAI): ($4.00/DAY)

Personal Accident Insurance is accidental death and medical expense benefits insurance. It
covers the renter and all the passengers in the Avis car.

EMERGENCY SICKNESS PROTECTION (ESP): ($5.00/DAY, $35.00/WK

Emergency Sickness Protection provides a total maximum benefit of $10,000 for medical expense
benefits for some sicknesses occurring during the rental period. There is a $100 Deductible per
covered sickness. This product is available only to renters with valid non-U.S. passports.
GAS SERVICE OPTION (GSO): (Rate Varies)
The Gas Service Option allows the renter to purchase the first tank of gas at the time of rental
for a price that is competitive with the surrounding retail gas stations. This saves time and avoids the
hassle of having to refuel before returning the vehicle. If the vehicle is driven 100 miles or less, you
are charged only for the gasoline used, based on miles driven and at the Gas Service Option price
per gallon. If the vehicle is driven 100 miles or more, credit will not be given for unused gasoline.
ROADSIDE SAFETY NET: $5.99 /DAY
Provides customers with roadside service for items that are not included in the rental, such as key
replacement, flat tires, fuel delivery, lock out service, tire replacement and jump start assistance.
ADDITIONAL DRIVERS: ($13.00 PER PERSON PER RENTAL)
NOT TO EXCEED $65.00 PER RENTAL
The renter’s spouse and/or co-worker traveling with the renter and using their Avis Worldwide Discount
(AWD) number may drive the Avis vehicle as an authorized additional driver at no charge. Co-workers
may be the same age as the qualified Corporate renter. Spouse must be 25.
All other additional drivers will be charged the fee, must be present with the renter and:
a. be a minimum of 25 years of age
b. have a valid driver’s license in their possession
c. have an Avis-honored credit or debit card in their name
d. complete an Additional Driver form to be signed by the renter and
authorized additional driver
