Hilo
is on the east side of the Big Island
There are six big districts on the island of Hawaii. The majority of tourists arrive by flight at one of our commercial airports, including Hilo
International
Airport. Others arrive by cruise ship. Whichever describes you, the biggest issue upon arrival is getting around. Public transportation is minimal; therefore the solution is Hilo rental
cars.
Locations and Discounts
Most companies have locations at the Airport. Enterprise
is the only Hilo in-town rental location.
It is considered
a non-airport, off-airport, in-town, local, or home location. As such, you get an automatic non-airport
discount because you will not be charged the
mandatory airport
taxes, fees and surcharges that you would manditorily be charged
if you rented from the Hilo ITO Airport.
This could save you up to 22% or at least $48/week. The
Enterprise in town location is especially attractive to long term
visitors. The downside is that Enterprise does not offer
shuttle service between the Airport and
their in-town location. But do not despair, there
are several taxi services available. Currently, Enterprise
is the only company offering vehicles
for hire right in
town. Keep in mind, this is NOT an airport location. You
will need to find your own way there.
Car Rentals in Town
Hawaii is a very large island having a number of great attractions that are spread out. Tourists are suggested to rent a vehicle to move around effortlessly and with convenience. The solution is Hilo car hire. As a leading
auto rental provider, we offer our visitors access to many name brand rental agencies used all over the
world.
Booking your Vehicle
Although you'll find a vehicle to match your budget, it is
highly suggested to make a reservation far ahead of time. During the
warm season and holidays there are many more tourists visiting.
Therefore, visiting the island without having a prior reservation is
not recommended due to supply and demand. Book your vehicle early.
Our online reservation process makes it hassle free and convenient.
Enjoying
the
area with a Rental Car
Whether you need a convertible, Jeep, an SUV or a minivan, we are able to handle your
transportation
needs. You'll find a wide variety of options that
make it easy to find the perfect vehicle during your stay. Due to intense competition between service providers, you'll find that rental charges are extremely reasonable in
Hawaii,
especially through Hawaii Car Rentals.
Traveling
East to West
If you're traveling to Kona on Saddle
Road, be sure to visit the Mauna Kea Volcano Visitor's
Center. But be advised that none of the vehicle rental
companies allow their vehicles to be driven beyond the
Visitor's Center on up to the Mauna Kea Volcano Observatory,
even if they are 4WD. The road is not paved, weather changes
frequently, visibility can be very poor, and the road can be
hazardous to navigate.
